Meeting Of the Committee Working Group for Proposing Amendments in the Energy Conservation Building Code 2026

The Sindh Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (SEECA) convened an important Committee Working Group meeting to discuss and propose amendments in the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) 2026, aimed at strengthening sustainable construction practices and improving energy efficiency standards across Sindh.

The meeting was chaired by the Managing Director of SEECA, Dr. Muhammad Atif Jalib, along with senior officials, technical experts, and representatives from relevant departments and institutions. The session focused on reviewing the existing building code framework, identifying areas for improvement, and aligning the updated code with modern energy conservation requirements, environmental standards, and regional climatic conditions.

Participants discussed key areas including building insulation standards, energy-efficient HVAC systems, lighting efficiency, renewable energy integration, water conservation measures, and compliance mechanisms for commercial, residential, and public sector buildings. Special attention was given to ensuring that the revised ECBC 2026 remains practical, enforceable, and beneficial for both developers and end users.

The committee also emphasized the importance of integrating these amendments into the regulatory frameworks of local authorities, particularly the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability.

This initiative reflects SEECA’s continued commitment to promoting green building practices, reducing energy consumption, lowering carbon emissions, and supporting Pakistan’s broader climate resilience goals. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to finalize recommendations and move toward stronger policy implementation for a more energy-efficient future in Sindh.
