MoU Signing between Sindh Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (SEECA) and NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi

Karachi, Pakistan – Wednesday 11th February 2026, Sindh Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (SEECA) and NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the establishment of Energy Efficient Appliances Testing Laboratories and the promotion of Green Star / Energy Efficiency compliance across the province.

The MoU signing ceremony, held in Karachi, marks a significant milestone toward strengthening institutional capacity for energy efficiency implementation in Sindh. Under this collaboration, NED University—through its academic departments and the ASURE Centre, will provide laboratory space, technical expertise, research support, and operational management of the facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and technical integrity.

Representatives from both institutions emphasized that government–academia collaboration is critical for the effective enforcement of minimum energy performance standards, demand-side management, and market transformation toward high-efficiency appliances. This initiative is expected to help reduce electricity demand, improve system reliability, lower consumer energy costs, and support climate change mitigation efforts in Sindh.
