MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER OF ENERGY
I commend SEECA for its unwavering dedication to enhancing energy efficiency and conservation in our province. Sindh currently faces a pressing two-fold crisis that demands immediate attention. Energy shortages disrupt daily life, destabilize the economy, and pose a threat to national security. In the midst of these energy challenges and the looming threat of climate change, it is imperative that we recognize the profound impact of our actions on our community, nation, and the world. We must transition from wasteful energy consumption to sustainable and resilient practices to confront this challenge head-on.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) can play a vital role to accelerate clean energy transition leading to sustainable development. Improvement in energy efficiency and conservation is one of the easiest and least cost-effective pathways to improve country’s energy sector sustainability. This can produce the co-benefits of decrease in the cost of energy, improvement in access to energy, industrial competitiveness, deduction in energy import bill, and achieving the NDCs targets.
Sindh province as a whole and its urban centers especially Karachi alone have a huge potential of Energy conservation and improving efficiency by taking measures which include a number of EE&C interventions to be implemented in the key sectors of the economy such as Industry, building, Transport, Energy, Power & Petroleum, and Agriculture sectors. This immense potential makes the “Sindh” as a key player with its vital share to be the leading contributor in achieving the EE&C targets at National level.
We recognize SEECA’s pivotal role in this endeavor and reaffirm our dedication to supporting SEECA’s vision in meeting our energy needs and global climate commitments.
I urge the Sindh Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency to persevere in its invaluable work in promoting energy efficiency and conservation. SEECA’s efforts will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our finances, communities, nation, and the global stage. I can discern the necessary dedication within SEECA, and I eagerly anticipate the positive influence of SEECA’s work as we collectively strive for a brighter, more sustainable future.
Keep it up SEECA – you have an important role to deliver on
