Message From The Chief Minister Of Sindh

The efficient utilization of our energy resources is not only crucial for our national economy but also vital for the environment and our national commitments to the NDCs.

The high cost of imported fuel exacerbates our energy-related challenges, often forcing us to curtail energy use even for the industry and commerce. Energy shortages result in significant economic losses and elevated production costs, affecting our production, exports, and almost all economic activities. Additionally, it impacts productivity and causes discomfort to the public due to high costs and frequent load shedding.

Efficient use of our energy resources is, therefore, critical and can play a significant role in alleviating our energy crisis. In this regard, I am proud of the Government of Sindh’s initiative to establish an independent agency for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (SEECA) under the guidelines of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (NEECA). This milestone makes Sindh the first province to undertake such a proactive initiative in the realm of energy conservation and efficiency.

Sindh, home to major industries, will look to SEECA to provide leadership in achieving the targets of Energy Efficiency and Conservation and making the province an energy-vibrant province. The Government of Sindh and the Energy Department deserve recognition for their commitment to addressing this critical issue and taking the lead.

SEECA’s plan to collaborate with the private sector and all stakeholders to leapfrog into the era of efficiency is commendable. I have no doubt that through partnerships and innovative solutions, SEECA will fulfill the longstanding needs of the province. Its joint efforts will not only reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency but also promote sustainable practices across all sectors of our economy.

I am confident that SEECA will play an instrumental role in ensuring a brighter energy future for Sindh. As we embark on this path of sustainable energy management, I wish SEECA all the best and look forward to SEECA’s leadership in moving towards a more energy-efficient, economically vibrant, and environmentally responsible Sindh.
